People are building larger homes in the Park City, Utah area. The average home size increased to 6,824 square feet, almost 20% greater than homes built in 1990 when the average was 5,070 square feet. Although the national trend is toward smaller homes, much of the new construction in the city limits are in the Colony at White Pine Canyon, Park Meadows and Deer Valley where the homes are considerably larger than the average. Homeowners in these exclusive communities are building vacation homes for generations to gather for holidays and major events. Fewer homes are being built in Old Town which has strict building restrictions therefore impacting the average.
