Remodeling magazine’s annual “Cost vs. Value Report” indicates that exterior and replacement provide the greatest return on investment according to an article in REATOR magazine.

In the Mountain States, no addition or upgrade had a payback of greater than 86% partially due to the decline in appreciation in some of the states such as Arizona.

Several projects had payback over 80% and included the addition of a wood deck, the remodel of the basement, bathroom, or minor kitchen, and the replacement of wood windows and fiber-cement siding. These trends reflected the National percentages.
