Gold Medal Sled Hockey in Park City

On February 16th, 17th, and 18th the National Ability Center will host the first international sled hockey games to be played in Park City at the Park City Ice Arena.  Paralympic Bronze winning team USA will battle it out against Torino Champions and rival, team Canada.  Sled Hockey is a fast paced, exciting, and highly competitive sport which has been growing in popularity for both spectators and players.

Team USA lead by head coach Keith Blase is greatly hoping for victory against Canada during the game series. “We have a young team,” said Blase, “nine of our players are under 21, but they show a lot of potential as a team.”   Joining the team is National Ability Center participant Greg Shaw of Park City, UT.  Shaw was recently named to the US National Development Sled Hockey Team which trains players to compete on the Paralympic level.  “Shaw is a natural skater and amazing athlete, “says National Ability Center Golden Eagles Sled Hockey Coach, Jim Weeks.  Shaw was named to the team after playing sled hockey for only seven months due to his incredible potential in the sport.

The US vs. Canada games will be held at the Park City Ice Arena on Friday, February 16th at 7:30pm, Saturday, February 17th at 8:15pm, and Sunday, February 18th at 9:15 am.  Tickets are free but a suggested donation of $5 to the

National Ability Center sled hockey program is suggested.  This event is perfect for families and people of all ages who love riveting sports.
