Mountain Town Stages’ New Executive Director
Mountain Town Stages founder Randy Barton is stepping down from his post as executive director of MTS. Barton, a long-time promoter of free concerts and faithful supporter of the local music scene, is moving on to other things. A KPCW radio personality and active hands-on father of two little boys, Barton has his hands full without the extra responsibility of programming over 150 concerts a year (the bulk of which show outdoors — and for free – in the summer).
Taking Barton’s place is Toby Martin, a very qualified Parkite with over 25 years of working experience in the entertainment industry. Martin has lived and worked in both L.A. and New York, but now makes his home in Park City. Although his entertainment gigs are too numerous to mention, highlights in his career include working in various capacities at Viacom, Spelling Entertainment, ABC, MTV, Hanna-Barbera, and Sunn Classic Pictures. His music production experience is just as impressive, producing television specials for Willie Nelson, Ozzy Osbourne, and Dolly Parton, among other illustrious recording artists.
Martin came to Park City in 2004, initially just to visit friends. But like so many others before him, he found the atmosphere in Park City so enticing his visit became a permanent move. Not one to look back, Martin quickly got involved volunteering for the local non-profits, which is how he found Mountain Town Stages. When he heard they were looking for a new executive director, he threw his hat in the ring, and after an extensive interview process, the MTS board of directors chose Martin.
Mountain Town Stages is currently on hiatus, with concerts at the Canyons scheduled to start up again on March 11, 2007. In addition to the Canyons, Martin will be responsible for programming five other stages throughout the summer and early fall. Stay tuned to this blog for more information and concert schedules as they become available. For more information on Mountain Stages go to www.mountaintownstages.com.

Mountain Town Stages has done such a great job of keeping music in Park City. I will certainly miss Randy B but is sounds like we have a terrific replacement to keep the organization going!
You go MTS!
