Park City Performing Arts Center Presents - Fred Garbo Inflatable Theater Co.
PARK CITY, UT – Larger-than-life and brimming with fun, Fred Garbo Inflatable Theater Co. fills The Eccles Center with giggle-inducing antics during two performances on Saturday, Nov. 24, at 2 p.m. & 6 p.m.
Garbo and his ballerina co-star, Krista Paulsen, delight audiences of all ages with a dazzling blend of dance, comedy, juggling and inventions that inflate. Giant, colorful, blown-up shapes made of parachute silk, shimmer, ballooning and deflate – all in time to the music. Human performers and props engage in a comic tango. For example, as Paulsen performs the can-can, her skirts expand, filling with air, until she eventually floats away.
Garbo, Paulsen and their puffed up sidekicks have traveled the world, entertaining audiences from New Zealand’s Festival Fringe to New York’s “Late Show with David Letterman.” Bermuda’s Royal Gazette calls Garbo’s theatrical performance, “A wildly entertaining balleto-pneumatic show that melds art with aerodynamics and leaves the audience howling in its wake.” According to The New York Times “The effect is like watching a live-action cartoon and occasionally being permitted to get in on the routine.”
Garbo’s career in show biz has ranged from performing with MOMIX Dance Company in Brazil to Sesame Street’s Barkley the Dog. Together with Paulsen, they mix their skills and the inflatable inventions, created by Garbo and artist-builder George York.
Light to the point of lifting the spirits of all, Fred Garbo’s Inflatable Theater Co. is a “must-see,” according to Saskatoon’s The Star Phoenix and in the words of a Scotland on Sunday reviewer, “Beg, borrow, steal a ticket, even from your kids.” Let the buoyant silliness begin.
