Trisha Yearwood Kicks Off the 2007-2008 Season at The Eccles Center
PARK CITY, UT - One of the biggest voices in country music, Trisha Yearwood kicks off the 2007-2008 Season at The Eccles Center on Friday, September 14.
The three-time Grammy winner “has never sweated the differences between contemporary and traditional country-music styles,” according to Rolling Stone. Influenced by country-pop crossover legends Patsy Cline and Linda Ronstadt, Yearwood burst onto the scene with the 1991 hit “She’s in Love with the Boy.” Ever since, she’s blended country, rock and even blues and gospel with astounding success, creating 11 albums and a devoted following in the process; she’s also earned an array of awards, from Female Vocalist of the Year (from both the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music) to induction into the Grand Ole Opry along the way.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Yearwood is “one of the finest interpretive singers ever.” The seasoned performer has a vibrant onstage presence and extraordinary talent, which according to The New York Times, is complimented by “a bracing sense of humor.” Her highly acclaimed voice has been described by Rolling Stone as “an instrument that lusciously intertwines gravitas and light.”
Aside from performing solo, Yearwood has collaborated with a distinguished array of musicians, everyone from Pavarotti to Brooks & Dunn. Most recently, Yearwood and her husband, country star Garth Brooks, opened the “Live Earth” concert in Washington D.C. Aside from touring, the country-pop phenomenon has also returned to the recording studio. Her new single “Heaven, Heartache And The Power Of Love,” released in July, has been touted by critics and fans alike; the accompanying album is scheduled for release in November.
“We see Ms. Yearwood’s performance as the first gift of many in a season of celebration – the Eccles Center’s 10th birthday,” commented PCPAF’s executive director Teri Orr.
