RIDING THE BENCH is On Its Way!
A first draft of the previously untitled screenplay of Mark Eaton’s journey into the NBA is finally done. Now using the working title RIDING THE BENCH, the screenplay tells the story of how Mark went from being an auto mechanic to an NBA center and shot blocker in four years. A fourth round draft pick in 1982 for the Utah Jazz, the former UCLA benchwarmer had little hope of even making the team. But he did, and at age 25 he embarked upon a 12-year career in the NBA that ended with him being named NBA Defensive Player of the Year twice, NBA All Defensive Team three times and played in an NBA All-Star Team once. He also holds the record for the most blocked shots in a single season (456).
Now that a first draft of the screenplay is finished, it’s being sent to production companies, directors and producers who have shown interest as the development process has progressed.
