FRIENDS OF THE FARM SCARECROWS AT THE FARM JUMP STARTS THE FALL WITH FAMILY FUN
PARK CITY, UTAH — The Friends of the Farm will hold their annual Scarecrows at the Farm on Saturday, September 29th from 2 to 4 p.m. Tickets are $25 per scarecrow/group of 4 and go on sale at the Park City Library on Saturday, September 15th. This event takes place at the McPolin Farm.
At this family event the Friends of the Farm provides crosses, grocery bags and straw to give scarecrows form. Families provide the materials to make their scarecrows. There are only 40 crosses available.
“The scarecrows are amazing,” said Linda Malone, chair of the Friends of the Farm scarecrow event. “Families are so creative.”
In past years, Park City families have departed from the traditional scarecrows to make skiers, witches, pumpkin men, pirates and even Disney characters. “It’s easy,” said Malone. “You just go in your closet and come up with some funny long underwear, aprons, trousers and that’s the spark of an idea. Inspiration falls into place after that.”
Along with building scarecrows, the event features games for children and traditional fall refreshments including apple cider and pumpkin cookies. The scarecrows will be on display along the trail to the Farm until October 21st. The event will be held rain or shine.
At this event, participants may purchase a Friends of the Farm hat, apron or cards. The attractive apron features the Friends of the Farm logo, three pockets and adjustable neck. All proceeds from merchandise and event ticket sales support farm improvements.
Parking at the McPolin Barn is prohibited and is extremely limited on the south side of Meadows Drive. Participants are urged to take the city bus, Kimball Junction route or ride bikes. Dogs are not welcome.
