Main Street Food In Park City

Contributed by manager - Posted: December 30th, 2008

After a long day of enjoying your favorite winter activity, you’ll undoubtedly want to have something to eat. And if you’re interested in the atmosphere of you host town, Main St in Park City offers some of the best cuisine and the best prices.

Take the Café Terigo for example. This is a place that celebrates the multicultural flavor of the city by serving food that is inspired by both Northern Italy and Southern France. You can enjoy the great food in a European style outdoor café as you take in the sites of historic Park City.

Cisero’ s Nightclub is for those who still have some room for excitement after the slopes. And don’t let the darts, dancing and karaoke fool you, there’s a fine selection of food that is served after 5:00 p.m.

Any trip to Park City isn’t complete until you’ve checked out all the other attractions beyond the slopes. There are so many different things to do and see, you’ll find yourself planning the next trip back even before the first one is over.

Beware of the Banks! Washington Mutual and JP Morgan Chase

Contributed by Jim Harsch - Posted: November 22nd, 2008

Although there has been much discussion regarding how banks are now working with distressed homeowners, it certainly did not happen with our client who recently lost her property to the bank bureaucracy that did absolutely nothing in 120 days. Numerous calls were made to a variety of departments with no calls ever returned. We then started a fax blitz (6 weeks prior to the Trustee Sale) to another set of departments and individuals including the WAMU Home Preservation team, and JP Morgan Chase CEO, James Dimon, again with no response or action. The faxes indicated that their borrower could possibly cure the default and someone needed to give her a call. We had listed the property for more than was owed on both the first and second mortgages, and had the possibility of selling the property and paying both of the mortgages in full if some additional time was provided, unlike many markets in the country. By proceeding with the Trustee Sale, the bank automatically canceled the second mortgage which they also held due to the merger of Washington Mutual and JP Morgan Chase!

We should not be doing bailouts for Corporations that are so stupid and ineffective!

Utah again has 7 Resorts in the Ski Magazine Top 30 for 2008

Contributed by Billie Harsch - Posted: October 2nd, 2008

ski-picture-at-the-canyons.jpgSki Magazine’s latest issue details the top 50 ski resorts in North America. Deer Valley is again #1, with Park City Mountain Resort at #5 and The Canyons moving up to #13. Park City dominates the Utah market, but other Utah resorts did very well with Solitude #22, Snowbird at #25, Alta at #28, and Snowbasin at #30. Utah is the only place with 7 resorts within an hour of each other that are in the Top 30. Most are within 30 minutes of the Salt Lake International Airport.

Vail, Whistler/Blackcomb and Snowmass trailed Deer Valley on the list, while Beaver Creek, Aspen, Steamboat, Breckinridge and Telluride rounded out the Top 10 following Park City Mountain Resort.

Utah’s resorts work hard at providing the best ski experience and it is becoming more apparent that The Greatest Snow on Earth is being complimented by the world’s greatest resorts.

Residents and Businesses Shake Off Economic Slowdown

Contributed by manager - Posted: January 5th, 2009

With the numbers stating that the tourist industry like every other aspect of the economy is slowing even in premiere locations like Park City, you might think the outlook from the residents and business owners there might be a little gloomy. Nothing could be further from the case.

Take Peter Curtis’ aptitude for example. In the latest issue of the LATimes.com, the president of the Park City Mountain Resort acknowledges that while the economy is a concern, he still predicts that the slopes and resorts will stay active.

“They’ll ski,” he says, ” but they’re going to find ways to save money.”

And the numbers do show some cause for concern as the bookings overall are down anywhere from 15% to 25% from last year. Still, it’s the town’s diversity that generally keeps the mood upbeat despite any economic news.  The Sundance film festival always keeps the town busy and adds a necessary shot to the sagging bookings.

Of course there are real deals for those looking to join in on all the winter fun. One of the latest arrivals on the scene, The Newpark Resort, offers a flat fee right through until March in an attempt to bring people to the area.

If You Haven’t Heard of Skullcandy Yet, You Will

Contributed by manager - Posted: December 31st, 2008

Innovation is the stuff that turned Park City from a mining town into one of the best winter vacation hotspots in the world. So it should be no surprise that right in the middle of one of the worst recessions to hit in years, it’s a Park City company that’s making waves.

Funding

At a time when it’s next to impossible to get funding, Park City’s Skullcandy is doing so well they just got a round of funding from a private equity shop. The five year old homegrown business has a weird twist on a traditional accessory. Check out any of the company’s line of headphones and you’ll be amazed at the innovative style that uses fake alligator, foil and rhinestones.

Business Gurus

The local business gurus were number 10 in their market three years ago. Since then they’ve been able to move up to number three and have their eye on the number one position for the near future.

 Fashion Accessories

The difference here is that these headphones are designed to be fashion accessories and not just disappear into the background like the ones other companies like Sony make.

Keeping That Outdoor Vibe Alive

Contributed by manager - Posted: December 28th, 2008

Keeping That Outdoor Vibe Alive

As you might have already guessed the emphasis in Park City is all about outdoor fun and there’s so much of it available you might find it hard to stop skiing or snowboarding long enough to take the time out to eat.

Prospector Square

Well, as you might have already guessed, Park City has that angle covered as well with several restaurants that have outdoor seating and one of the best places where you’ll want to be in Prospector Square enjoying the fine European cuisine at Adolph’s. Here’s a place that’s brings a bit of the Continent to America with its fine selection of Swiss Continental food.

Two Levels

For something that provides the best of both worlds there’s Café Sabor that provides two levels of indoor and outdoor seating.   The large windows and fireplaces add to the Mexican food that’s offered there and you can also get steak and pastas as well.

Many of the dining establishments in Park City know that you’ve just spent the day outside and in most cases aren’t ready to come in just because you’re hungry or thirsty.
